Ibadullah ( Servants of Allah )

• Reference: Surah Al Furqan Verse 63-74

• Servants of Allah are obliged to stay istiqamah in tawadhu' which is the auality of being humble, not arrogant-like and self aware of one's own weaknesses.

• Tawadhu' in the context of religion : Associated with a sense of humility towards God and others.

• We, as Muslims must have a sense of gratitude within our hearts since everything that has been granted in our life comes from only Him and there is no one else that may help us but Him, Allah SWT.

Khalifah ( Leaders )

• Reference: Surah Al- Baqarah Verse 30

• Translation of above verse:                                                                                 ˹Remember˺ when your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to place a successive ˹human˺ authority on earth.” They asked ˹Allah˺, “Will You place in it someone who will spread corruption there and shed blood while we glorify Your praises and proclaim Your holiness?” Allah responded, “I know what you do not know.”

• Meaning of Khalifah : Leader / Vicegerent of Allah SWT

• Humans, are given the title of khalifah from Allah SWT , are responsible for preserving and taking care of the world that has been granted to them .  In the Hereafter, they shall be judged on every doings whether good or bad deeds, where no one is left unaccountable.

Ummatan Wasatan ( The Middle Community )

• Reference : Surah Al- Baqarah Verse 143

• Also known as Wasatiyyah ( Balanced Nation ) which describes a community that is characterized by moderation, balance, and fairness between extremes, being just and excellent. The concept emphasizes a balanced approach to life, avoiding extremes in religious, spiritual, and material matters, and serves as a key characteristic of the community of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). 

Adab in Seeking Knowledge

• Main Purpose: Bring oneself closer towards Allah SWT, Our Creator.

• Islam teaches us the very importance of implementing manners in the pursuit of knowledge

• This is to ensure one's barakah and honest intention in seeking knowledge, and to avoid feelings of arrogance and ujub in one's intelligence of acquired knowledge

Translation of Hadith :

It was narrated on the authority of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him. He sat down close by the Prophet (peace be upon him), rested his knee against his thighs, and said, "O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam."

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that you should perform salah, pay the Zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House, if you are able to do so."

The Five Pillars of Islam

1. Kalimah Shahadah : Testifying whereby there is no God but Allah SWT, and Muhammad SAW is His Prophet ( Messenger )

2. Salah : Establishing the five daily prayers as an obligation for all Muslims

3. Zakat : Means of charity from one Muslim's wealth to another that are less fortunate ( asnaf )

4. Fasting in month of Ramadan: Obligation for all Muslims during the Holy Month

5. Hajj : Perform pilgrimage according to the rukun and sunnahs, if one is able to ( in context of wealth and health )

Importance of the Pillars of Islam :

• to strengthen the bond between us and Allah

• refine our souls in avoiding sins and immoral behaviour

• shaping ourselves better as a servant of Allah

Translation of Hadith:

but he went on to say, "Inform me about iman."

He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in qadar (fate), both in its good and in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken truly."

The Six Pillars of Iman ( Belief/ Faith )

1. Belief in Allah : The One and Only Creator

2. Belief in the Malaikat : Angels

3. Belief in the Kitab : Revelation of Allah bestowed towards the chosen prophet to be revealed to mankind

4. Belief in His Messengers ( Rasul ) : 25 Rasul entrusted by Allah to guide mankind towards  the straight path

5. Belief in the Hereafter : The day of Judgement

6. Belief in Qada and Qadar

Importance of Pillars of Iman :

1. Foundation of faith – They form the basic framework of a Muslim’s belief system. Without them, a person’s īmān is incomplete.

2. Guidance for life – Believing in Allah, His messengers, and His books gives Muslims a clear source of guidance on how to live righteously.

3. Strength in trials – Belief in Qadar and the Day of Judgment helps Muslims remain patient, hopeful, and steadfast when facing difficulties.

4. Connection with the unseen – Belief in angels, the afterlife, and divine decree strengthens awareness that life goes beyond the material world.

5. Accountability and responsibility – Knowing that actions will be judged motivates Muslims to act with sincerity, justice, and compassion.

6. Unity of belief – These pillars unite all Muslims worldwide under a common creed, regardless of race or culture.

• this belief leads to contentment and satisfaction, even in the face of hardship and adversity

• Meaning of Qadar: knew,predetermined and planned perfectly

• Meaning of Qada' : judged, ordained and executed perfectly

• referring to Allah's complete knowledge and his Will exists even before the existence of all things and His creation of all things happens by His own commands and will.

4 COMPONENTS OF QADA' AND QADAR

1) Knowledge: Believe with total and utmost certainty that Allah has knowledge of everything whether it is of His own doing, or of His creatures.

2) Writing: Allah SWT has written all His knowledge of the fate of His creatures in the Preserved Tablet ( Luh Mahfuz)

3) Will: Allah wills the presence or absence of everything in the heavens and in the earth and nothing can exist without His will. True faith is only achieved when we believe that Allah's Will is total and all-embracing.

4) Creation: Believing that Allah is indeed the Creator of everything even death, although it is the absence of life

Benefits in Belief of Qada' and Qadar

• Acquire a peace of mind

• Teaches us to be modest, humble and content with everything in life

• Eliminate bad manners like envy and jealousy and establish good manners.

2) Belief in Rasul and Al-Anbiyya'

• refers to a firm belief that Allah has sent a Messenger to every nation and to call them to worship Allah alone without associating Him with others

• His Messengers are truthful, virtuous, trustworthy and are rightly-guided servants who strived hard to lead their people to the right path and to convey Allah's message without concealing, omitting or adding anything into it

NECESSITIES OF THE MESSENGERS:

1) Guiding humanity from the worship of created beings to worship Allah SWT as their

Creator.

2) Clarifying to humanity the purpose of creation: worshipping God and obeying His

commands, as well as clarifying that this life is a test for each individual, a test of which its

results will decide the type of life one will lead after death.

3) Showing humanity the right path that will lead them to Paradise and to salvation from

Hellfire.

4) Establishing proof against humanity by sending prophets, so people will not have an excuse when they will be questioned on the Day of Judgment. They will not be able to claim ignorance to the purpose of their creation and life after death

5) Providing human beings practical examples to lead moral, righteous, purpose-driven lives free of doubts and confusion. Innately, human beings admire fellow human beings, so the best examples of righteousness for humans to imitate are those of God’s prophets.

Lastly,

3) Belief in the Hereafter

• The life in this world and all of that is in it will come to an end. Everything will be annihilated and the day is called al-Qiyamah, the Last Day.

• People who have ever lived will be brought back to life and presented before God, who will sit for judgement ( Al-Hashr : Resurrection )

• All of our deeds and transgressions will be presented before God for the final judgement

• Those who emerge successful in this judgement will go to Paradise and the doors of eternal bliss will be opened to them meanwhile those who are condemned and deserve punishment will be sent to Hell the abode of fire and torture

Significance:

1) This message is brought by all Prophets

2) Man will measure the benefits and harm of their actions

Hikmah in Belief of Day of Judgement:

1) Demonstrates the completeness, greatness and uniqueness of Allah SWT

2) Increase the love for meeting Allah in the hearts of the believers

3) Establishes fear towards Allah

4) Supports a Muslim in hastening and engaging in good deeds

5) Aiding patience during times of hardships

• Ihsan is part of the trilogy of Islam,Iman and Ihsan in accordance with the Hadith of Jibril.

• Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him. Even if you do not see Him, Allah actuallysees you.

• The degree of Ihsan is at the highest level

• Definition: To be good, to beautify , indicating the significance of benevolence, the performance of good conduct and the act of mercy . In technical mening, it refers to doing what is beautiful and establishing perfection in one's life.

• A Muslim who has the awareness of being observed will surely strive to beautify his actions to attain Allah's pleasure

Wishes:

I hope that the knowledge I've gained throughout the usrah sessions will help me to improve myself in becoming a better Muslim, while also preparing to become the best version I can be in the upcoming Ramadan.

Improvements :

I believe usrah sessions could improve more by application of tadabbur from Quranic ayah related to shared topic . Therefore, it could touch the hearts of students more effectively by truly understanding the interpretation of Allah's words.

• Source: Al-Ankabut, verse 45.

• Purpose: Acts as a shield against immorality and wrongdoing.

• Impact: Cultivates self-restraint and moral consciousness by strengthening self-awareness.

2. Fasting (Sawm)

• Source: Al-Baqarah, verse 183.

• Purpose: Involves abstaining from food and drink.

• Impact: A private act that directly trains sincerity and the ability to control one's desires.

3. Zakat (Almsgiving)

• Source: At-Taubah, verse 103.

• Purpose: To purify and cleanse.

• Purifying: Refining the soul by removing greed and nurturing gratitude.

• Cleansing: Removing "impurities" from wealth by redistributing the portion that rightfully belongs to the needy.

4. Hajj (Pilgrimage)

• Source: Al-Baqarah, verse 197.

• Purpose: Performed primarily out of submission to Allah's command.

• Note: Hajj is a mandatory pilgrimage, whereas Umrah is voluntary.

To conclude, Ibadah is a holistic system. Whether through the self-restraint of fasting or the social responsibility of Zakat, every act serves to refine the individual's character and purify society.

Spiritual and physical cleanliness is the foundation of worship.

• Methods: Includes Wudhu' and Tayammum.

• Requirements:

• Must be free from major and minor impurities (hadas).

• Ensure clothing, body, and the prayer area are clean.

• Cover the aurat, face the Qiblat, and ensure prayer time has begun.

• Sunnah of Wudhu': Reciting Basmalah, using the Miswak, washing hands three times, cleaning the nose/ears, and prioritizing the right side.

2. Conditions & Acceptance

To be valid, the person must be Muslim, of age (Baligh), of sound mind (Berakal), and free from menstruation or postnatal bleeding.

• Abandoning Prayer (Hukm Tarik as-Salah): * If missed due to oversleeping, it is forgiven but must be made up (qada').

• If missed due to laziness, it is considered a sin/disbelief (kafir), and must be made up (qada').

3. Pillars (Arkan) of Salah

The essential steps include:

• Intention (Niat) and standing upright.

• Takbiratul Ihram and reciting Al-Fatihah.

• Performing Ruku', I'tidal, and Sujud with calmness (toma'ninah).

• Sitting between prostrations and for the final Tahiyyat.

• Reciting the final Tahiyyat, Selawat, and the Salam in the correct order (Tertib).

4. Jama' (Combining Prayers)

Traveling individuals may combine prayers:

• Jama' Taqdim: Combining two prayers during the time of the first (e.g., performing Zuhur and Asar during Zuhur).

• Jama' Takhir: Combining two prayers during the time of the second (e.g., performing Maghrib and Isyak during Isyak).

• Note: Both require the person to still be in the middle of their journey.

Performing Salah with true devotion (Khushu') builds five essential character traits:

• Al-Taah (Submission): Training yourself in sincere obedience and discipline.

• Al-Jihad (Inner Struggle): Fighting against laziness and daily distractions (Jihad al-nafs).

• Muhasabah (Self-Reflection): Using the end of the day to evaluate your intentions and sins.

• Iffah (Self-Restraint): Protecting your moral integrity; true prayer should stop you from sinful actions in daily life.

• Tawaddhu' (Humility): Removing pride by recognizing your dependence on Allah, symbolized by prostrating (sujud).

Fasting means staying away from food, drinks, and bad habits from sunrise until sunset. It helps us grow in:

• Sabr (Patience): Learning to follow Allah’s commands, stay away from what is forbidden, and remain strong through tough times.

• Rahmah (Compassion): Building kindness for others by feeling what it's like to be hungry, which encourages us to help feed those in need.

2. Virtues of Zakah (Almsgiving)

Giving Zakah is a sign of a true believer who respects Allah and keeps up their prayers. It encourages:

• Tawakkul (Trust): Learning to rely fully on Allah for our needs and our future.

• Ukhuwah (Brotherhood): Creating a sense of community and unity while letting go of selfishness to care for others.
