Vicki was diagnosed in June 2019, entered a clinical trial and fought with such heart and bravery. She died on Jan 1st, 2020 at 63 years young. I miss her so much. My friends and I are running a marathon in her honor and to raise funds for PanCan - reading these stories broke my heart but lifted my spirits. One day we will find a cure.

I am surviving, I was diagnosed 9/15/19. Fortunately my stage 2 tumor was in the head/neck of my pancreas and I underwent Whipple Surgery 10/3/19. After 7 Folfirinox chemo treatments, my liver was suffering so we stopped chemo. So far, I've had 2 clear scans. I pray to be in the very small group of those whose cancer never returns. And I pray that the 10% five year survival rate grows to 100%. Thank you PanCAN!

To my grandma- A survivor

My grandma was special. We had an irreplaceable bond. When I was born, she said her life changed forever. I was the first and only granddaughter she ever had. She taught me how to make minute steak, stewed potatoes and lemon ice box pie. She taught me how to garden and love the outdoors. She taught me how to put other first and count your blessings. In March 2019, 6 months after we lost my grandpa, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She survived chemo, radiation and a major surgery. 2 weeks after being pronounced cancer free, she died suddenly from complications in most of her major organs. I thought we were at the finish line. I thought we had more time together. I thought we had won the fight. The truth is... there would never be enough hours, days or weeks with someone like her. She was 1 in a million. Today, I remember her and feel her presence surrounding me. I love you, Nana.

Team Chattanooga was so proud to be part of PurpleStride TN! We have lost mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, wives, husbands, friends, and the list goes on and on — but WE KNOW that we must KEEP FIGHTING until there is an early detection test and a CURE — and NO ONE ELSE DIES FROM THIS AWFUL DISEASE! 💜
