The Fennec fox is a small nocturnal fox found in the Sahara of North Africa. The Fennec has a life span of up to 14 years in captivity. The Fennec fox weighs about 1.5–3.5 lb, with a body length of between 9–16 in; it is around 8 in tall.  Their adorable appearance makes them favorites of the captive pet trade, the main reason that they are endangered and local peoples also hunt the fennec fox for its fur. Little is known about the status of wild fennec fox populations.
