This runoff of melting snow and ice from the mountains changes the river's water levels throughout the year. The benefits of this are fresh water sources for people in the area.

One unique aspect of this monastery is the isolated location. It is accessible only by mountainous paths and involves a two hour climb from the valley floor through pine forests at around 7000 feet, to the Tiger’s Nest 3000 feet, this makes these people be very unaware of the outside world but it is fine because they are very protected.

Many glaciers are melting and forming lakes prone to bursting and downstream flooding.

Location: India
Effect of the Himalayan Mountains: The Ganges River originates from the Himalaya Mountains. When ice glaciers melt, the water forms the Bhagirathi River, which flows down the Himalayas into the Alaknanda River, forming the Ganges River.
What or who benefits from this? People of India benefit from this, since millions get freshwater provided for them. Also, people use this river for fishing, irrigation, and bathing.

The population density map of this region would look different if the Himalayan Mountains did not exist. To begin, the Himalayan Mountains play a key role in the Ganges River, because if there was no mountains, there would be no river. This would be very bad since many people in India rely on this river for food and water. Additionally, the Indus River gets its water from the melting snow in the Himalayans. So, if the Himalayas weren’t there, there would be no river. This would cause many people to go thirsty and hungry as well. Thus, if the Himalayan mountains did not exist, many people would move out of the area, since they wouldn’t be able to get the necessities that they need to live. There would most likely be more population density around the coast lines or other large rivers. The five themes of geography this relates to is location, place, and movement.
