After viewing the video of Rosie's structured routine and observing how her family negotiates to ensure a smooth transition to school, how can you, as a teacher, recognize and respect the invisible pedagogical work done by parents that may have contributed to Rosie's need for structure and routine?

These three characteristics must be adapted by the teacher too in cases of pupils with special needs. These pupils should be dealt with in the same way both at school and at home. That's why, frequent contact between the teacher and the parents is necessary to talk about the pupil's behaviour at home and how they face daily routines, so that the teacher follows the same methods at school.

I have worked with children with special needs and I understand Rosie's need for an organized and structured schedule of daily activities and events. Any deviation from the daily routine causes her insecurity and confusion. As teachers, we can gather important information from parents to help such children adapt and find their way in the school environment. The pedagogical work of parents should be respected. It is an excellent foundation on which we will build a superstructure so that such children's navigation in the school environment is in accordance with their needs. For this reason, there is a need for quality cooperation and communication between these two partners in the education of a child with special needs, that is, between parents and teachers.

As I wrote in the Triceder, I think that in order to involve parents, I believe it is necessary to make them feel welcomed, listened to, understood and accompanied. While actively listening to parents we often discover many things such as their skills and their passions. Every time I use this to invite parents to make their skills available to all students.
Parents almost always willingly accept and this active involvement makes it possible to heal the needs of each of us and to create an educating community in which everyone feels at home and accepted for what they are and not for what they could be or for what they are not. will ever be
Collaboration is essential for building a real relationship of trust in which each one plays his or her role responsibly and without judging the work of the others unless one first stops to reflect on the history of the other. In short, I firmly believe that an educating community can be truly inclusive if everyone is aware that they are not perfect and that thanks to mutual weaknesses, a strong and responsible community can be built. You need love, respect, understanding and passion for your work and that of your parents.
