Word Study Test

Every Friday, you will take a test over our word study words. Remember, you can choose the regular list OR the challenge list for the first 5 words. Everyone will have the 3 basic words and 2 surprise words that follow the rule. Last, there will be a sentence to write.

Directions:
*Number a paper 1-10
*Have an adult helper give you one word at a time. (the two surprise words are: fun and luck
*Last, have your adult helper give you the sentence. Check for capital letters and an end mark. Today's sentence is:
The fat dog will run and play in the sun.

*Post your work to the Padlet when you are done.

Book Making

Choice - either finish up a book you made OR make a new one.
"When you're done...you've just begun!"

Writer's Tip: Go slowly and carefully. You don't want to make a whole book in just one day. If you are, then think of more details you could add. Maybe spend a little longer on those bright, bold, beautiful pictures.

Listen to Mrs. Ward's read aloud Michael Makes Friends at School. We will be coming together really soon, so it gets us thinking about making friends from the other in-person group!

SSR - Self-Selected Reading Time

Our goal today is to read and read. We grow each time we enjoy new books! Thank you for recommending some books yesterday. If there are different books you liked today, feel free to post below! We have a list going in our classroom, and the bigger the list the more exciting reading will be!
Choice: You might practice partner reading with someone at home. Explain what we do in our classroom and pick out something to do at the end.

Madeleine had 8 packs of 100 pieces of bubble gum.
Audrey had 800 gum balls.
Who had more gum? Explain your thinking with words and numbers.

Comparing Even BIGGER Numbers

Watch the video below to understand 3 and 4 digit numbers.

Afterwards, create two different 3-digit numbers by rolling dice, using your spinner, or just thinking up your digits. You will then compare the two numbers by writing < = > and reading your number sentence out loud.

Example:
672 > 398
"Six hundred seventy-two is greater than three hundred ninety-eight."

**Challenge: If you get ten correct in a row, try 4-digit numbers.

Fact Fluency

Practice your math facts any way you choose. Remember, we want to get F-A-S-T! You are either working on:

*addition within 10
*addition within 18
*subtraction within 10

If you got +27 or more on your last timed test, you've moved up in levels!
