Increased screen time means less sleep. Constantly being tired can contribute to depression. Increased usage in technology also allows easier communication. With less face to face communication, teens lack good social skills. The ability to socialize helps teens make good connections to keep them from feeling lonely and depressed. The average teen spends 9 hours a day staring at a screen.

Shockingly only 30% of depressed teens seek help. Society has created this idea that being depressed is completely your fault and you should just get over it. Although therapy can be very effective, many think its just stupid conversations for crazy people. The truth is that everyone could use a little therapy in their lives, wether its a formal conversation or simply just spending more time doing the things you enjoy.

A teen commits suicide every 100 minuets. Suicide is americas 10th leading cause of death. Depressed teens often struggle to find help because of this unawareness. Depression is thought to be just a feeling and that anyone who is depressed are overdramatic and should just get over it. Depression is serious and should be treated like it is.
