For the unit 1 padlet assignment, I chose this picture to represent how I see plants in society and environment. These people are all in a community garden, planting fruit, vegetables and other life together. I think this picture shows how people can work together as a society to improve not only their life, but our environment as well. By planting in a community garden, they are Improving the plant production of the area, and improving the community around the garden.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQK3Yr4Sc_k

For the unit 2 padlet assignment I have chosen this video to best represent the process of photosynthesis. Crash course is a great video creator and I have watched their videos for years so I thought this video would be perfect for this assignment. One great thing to mention about photosynthesis that this video also covers, is that without plants conducting photosynthesis, we would all be dead. This video also goes over great information about photosynthesis, such as explaining the different types of reactions (light and independent) and other important aspects of photosynthesis.

For the unit 3 padlet assignment, I have chosen a bryophyte: Spanish moss, which is found in Savannah, Georgia. Bryophytes are a group of plant species that reproduce via spores rather than flowers or seeds. Most bryophytes are found in damp environments and consist of three types of non-vascular land plants: the mosses, hornworts, and liverworts. The scientific name of Spanish moss is Tillandsia usneoides, and it is from the family Bromeliaceae, the family of bromeliads.

For the unit 4 assignment I chose grasslands as the biome that is becoming the most ecologically endangered. Grassland biomes are found all over the world in various forms. Often called plains, prairies or steppes, grasslands are any large land area with enough rainfall to support grass growth but not enough to sustain trees and other shrubbery. Grasslands are often considered a transitional biome between deserts and forests. Grasslands are becoming rare. They are often converted for agricultural uses in order to take advantage of their rich soils. Global warming is also posing a threat, with rising temperatures turning many grassland biomes into deserts.

For our unit 5 padlet assignment we were instructed to choose a diagram that represents a positive or negative impact that The Neolithic or First Agricultural Revolution had on the human population. I chose a picture that demonstrates the positive impact. In this picture there are many aspects of agriculture which had a positive impact on human life. There is also aspects of farming and plant domestication used for human consumption as well. In this picture it can also be seen that people are making good to possibly be sold or traded for other goods, foods or services.

For our unit 6 padlet assignment, we had to add a web page, animation, article, video or a picture that represents the invention or innovation from the third agricultural revolution that catapulted the world of nations into a global society. I chose this picture of a carrot seeming to become genetically modified. The carrot is also very big which may indicate it has already been genetically modified. I think this picture accurately represents the third agricultural revolution because during that time, we gained new information and access to better scientific knowledge about how to increase crop yields and how to help farmers increase their sales.

For the unit 7 padlet we were to find either a web page, animation, article, video or picture that represents what you believe the most influential chemical used in the world that is derived from a plant. I chose caffeine which is a CNS stimulant and comes from Camellia sinensis (tea, also coffee, cocoa and other plants). I believe this is one of the most influential chemicals that come from a plant because it is highly used in most societies, as a stimulant, along with many other uses.

For the unit 8 padlet we had to find a picture or diagram of what I envision the world would look like in the future if present day agricultural, economic, social, and political practices go unchecked. For this padlet I chose this picture. I believe that in the future if present day agricultural, economic, social, and political practices go unchecked we may end up with barren and useless land. We come together as communities and create the plant rich society we have today and if we let these communities go unchecked we may end up with no plants or food.
