Ratcliff’s concept of transmission would be interpreted to me as the artist putting so much into the making of the song that they get lost in another universe and in turn, the listener also losing themselves in the listening of the song. I do agree with this concept because that’s how music should be. Music, good music, should be something that is felt on another level. It should be felt so much that the listener could have an emotional connection to the song, whether it be good or bad. When an artist creates a song, they should create it with the concept of transmission in mind. For example, on the Ratcliff playlist, one of the songs was Inner City Blues by Marvin Gaye. This song is a good example of transmission because you can literally feel the pain he is going through and it takes you on a trip inside his life. Another song that’s not on this playlist is Jazmine Sullivan’s Forever Don’t Last. In the song she's talking about someone she used to love and how she tried to make it work but she knew it was going to eventually end. These two songs are great examples of transmission because the two artists put their heart and soul into the song which became more than just lyrics and a nice melody. You could literally feel the music and I think that’s what the concept of transmission is all about.

"Giving more than you need is an act of transmission. So is exposing doubt through music, admiting that we have the answers or the plan, writing words embodying that a lack of a plan, singing in a way that embodies these words" Ratcliff55
