Slimy microbes have been found in the ocean that help coral survive better in certain environments. If coral has too much nitrogen in the water around it, this can lead to it having a nutrient imbalance. This nitrogen allows algae to bloom, and take over the area and kill the coral. These microbes have been found to allow coral to live in environment with a lot of nitrogen.
