In the IF poem it shows courage by saying ``if you can trust yourself  when all men doubt you´´Meaning you have courage in your self even when everyone else dosent. The yen-shen poem shows courage by saying  "That day Yen-Shen turned many a head  as she appeared at the feast" everyone was suprised she came but she was confident and stood up and went to the ball. In the IF poem and the Yen-shen tale it shows being humble and determined by saying in the IF poem "if you can talk with with crowds or talk with kings nor lose common touch". Meaning that you can be all high and everything but still not lose your common touch like your favirote things In the Yen-shen poem it shows it by saying. ``So in her displeasure, she 
gave poor Yeh-Shen the heaviest and most unpleasant chores.´´
This means after all of the things that her step mother did to her she still did the chores. In The IF poem and The Yen-shen text In the IF poem it says ¨ If you can meet with truimph and disaster and .Treat those two imposter the  just the same¨ This is showing Courage by showing them the same the same two imposters. In the yen-shen text it shows courage by saying ``Yeh-shen dared to show her face at the pavillion and even then she tiptoe timidly across the wide floor.´´  This is showing courage because it was very coragues of Yeh-shen to go to the pavillion and get her golden shoe back at night. That is the overall theme of both the poem IF and yeh-shen article.
