My cousin turned 19 that December, and was in the car with her friend. They get pulled over for a problem with the car, but the cop noticed something else. My cousin got caught with drugs, and it broke my family apart that New Years. She was in jail that whole night, meanwhile the rest of us had to pay our own money to bail her out. Our family was very disappointed and she wasn't an everyday part of our lives anymore.

How does the example relate to the theme?
     The example relates to the theme, because it shows a down part in our family where most of us were in a bad place. That was a huge change from before when she didn't go to school or have a job. We all are way happier that she made her life better, and for thanksgiving she joined us and finally decided to come back to being part of the family. She now is paying for her own car, is in school,  and has a job. Her parents got divorced when she was little, so she helps her mom out a lot.

    The example relates to the theme, because it shows a high point in our lives, when we just got out of the bottom and made our way to the top.
