About to land, but disaster strikes the Hindenburg

I did not know that the Hidenburg had a spy on board. I also didn’t not know that people were allowed up into the balloon part of the Hindenburg or that it flew as far as going across the Atlantic Ocean. The Hindenburg, and other zeppelins, were filled with hydrogen to float. The hydrogen and its reaction to a small spark is what they believe ultimately caused the explosion and disaster. “Fire on an airship filled with millions of cubic feet of flammable hydrogen gas” (76). The connection to STEM is that I learned about the element of hydrogen, and how it is extremely flammable. The zeppelins use hydrogen because it is lighter than air and causes the airship to float. I wonder if there is another element that could be used to make zeppelin flights safer. 

From this book, I learned that I will never get on a zeppelin. They look cool, but I have realized that they seem highly dangerous and move very slow. The retelling of the historical event with the stories overlaid made the historical event seem real. I was drawn into the story from the first chapter. The storyline was very exciting, involving spies and danger, it was a very good read.
