The season is fall and there are dead leaves on the ground so that proves it is fall and it must be windy but cool. The person who kills Grant notices the body falling to the ground and the ants claiming his body and birds flying to the trees. The narrator is the killer. Besides the narrator the other characters were present at the time of the killing except for grant and the murderer. The characters were stunned, sad, panicked, mad, and shocked. They were reacting by pushing, cussing, threatening, and imploding each other, They were all trying to think of who killed Grant and how much trouble they will be in. No one knows the narrator, the specific people present, and the party before the night. That they there was a fight earlier the night of the killing.

She is thinking this way because they 4 boys are shoulder to shoulder and have their heads bent over and making jerking motions acting like they are fighting.
(Chapter 6 Page 71)-She Infers that the boys are getting no sleep. Also She infers they are still fighting and Shep was cut in some way. 
She is thinking this because the boys had bags under their eyes and they started pushing each other and shep has a cut on his neck.

Shep | He was at the crime scene. He shot the remington that day. He fought Grant at the party, because he thought Kate was talking to him , but she thought it was Grant. He has a relationship with Kate. | 

Logan | He was at the crime scene. He shot the remington that day. He had a cut on his neck. He bid on sports and dealt with drugs.      |
