         <description><![CDATA[<div>Participants in this group:&nbsp;<br>Shreya, Sammy, Sophie, Evi.<br><br>Description of the activity:&nbsp;<br>We are going to be setting up a treasure hunt/memory game, where we hide cards with English, and Spanish words on them. They will be in pairs and will set off to find cards. They may only take the cards if they find the match of cards.<br><br>Grade level targeted:&nbsp;<br>Grade levels 4-5<br><br>Brief explanation of the activity:&nbsp;<br>They will have a partner and try to find two cards that say the same thing. One in English, and one in Spanish. Once they find a pair they take it and the one with the most pairs win. But they have to know what it is in Spanish.<br><br>How will you check that the students have learnt some Spanish?&nbsp;<br>At the end we will have a few pictures and ask them what it is the person with most correct will win. Maybe candy.<br><br>Why do you think this activity will be successful?<br>Because they will be learning and playing at the same time.          <title>Jump Rope</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Participants in this group:</strong>&nbsp;<br>May Tran, Emma Chen &amp; Katrina&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Description of the Activity:<br></strong>A game of jump rope. Students will need to make two equal teams and both teams will begin with a certain amount of points (amount of students within the class divided by two). Upon entering the jump rope, students will have to answer a question in Spanish simultaneously (eg. What is the Spanish term for apple?). If both students answer correctly, they will proceed to the next round and be given a new question. However if one of the two students make a mistake, both students will have to move to the back of the line and the team who answered the question incorrectly will have one point taken away from them. The first team to run out of points will lose the game and the winning team will each receive a piece of candy.&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Grade Level Targeted: <br></strong>Fourth/Fifth Grade <br><strong>Brief Explanation of the Activity: <br></strong>Students will play a quick game of vocabulary jump rope where students will have to answer questions in Spanish. The team with the most points in the end will be declared the winner and receive a prize.&nbsp;</div><div><strong>How will you check that the students have learnt some Spanish? <br></strong>We will have a water balloon game-show quiz during the last ten minutes to test them.&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Why do you think this activity will be successful? <br></strong>It requires them to run and interact with each other.          <title>Toilet Tag</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Length of the activity: </strong>10 min to learn the words and 20 mins to play</div><div><strong>Participants in this group: </strong>Geevan, Theo, Cheng Tao, Oscar, Gaspard</div><div><strong>Grade level targeted: Grade 5</strong></div><div>Toilet tag+ quiz at the end/ give them list of words they have to remember</div><div><strong>Brief explanation of the activity:<br>(First 10 mins we will show 10 words of objects in the house in Spanish and get a small group of grade 5s to act it out for the audience to guess. After that they have 20 mins to play.)<br></strong>Toilet tag: When they flush they have to say an item in the house. (In Spanish). They have a list of words to mime or act out for the audience to find out what the word is and then we tag them, and they have to say the definition of the vocab that we said. After all the words from the list is being taken or known by them, we will then bring them to an open space and play toilet tag (most likely the basketball court close by). After they’re tagged, to continue to run and tag they must say a word that one of the students have acted out.&nbsp;<br><strong>Rules:<br></strong>2 teams of 7 students will play each others in toilet tag . In each group there two of us will be it/taggers for each group. If the participants get tagged, they then become a ‘toilet’. For the player to be freed a person has to come up and ask them if they know a word from the list. If they do, they then flush and free the other player.</div><div>5 minutes to revise the words and the rest to play the game .&nbsp;</div><div><strong>How will you check that the students have learnt some Spanish?</strong></div><div>Ask them to act out a word that they say, should at least remember at least 2 or more because we’re only giving them 10 words to say/act/remember.&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Why do you think this activity will be successful?</strong></div><div>Yes as they will have had fun as it is an interactive thing to do.<br><strong>Survey:</strong><br><a href="https://goo.gl/forms/MHiSw5xJ0WnS0S832">https://goo.gl/forms/MHiSw5xJ0WnS0S832</a></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
