The press would have mainly affected the patient. Which would have disturbed her and harassed her. When you have such a severe surgery like the patient did you need serenity. That could have impacted how the patient reacted to the press later on her process. there would have been harassing questions and more pressure for the clinic to comment. It would not have been as organized. There would have been slip ups and not been able to disclose the information as they wanted.
Unfortunately no. It would have taken them time to rebuild their reputation post this surgery. One of the reasons is that this surgery was so innovative and garnered a lot of attention. It needed to be successful. They would have had patients want to go somewhere else.
I do believe because this procedure is still significant enough that you cannot just go anywhere that they will have some attention or at least hold a reputation in the media for being the best. I just don't think they will ever have the exact same media attention for something that has already been done.

I believe that many people were unaware of ALS in general so the challenge did bring awareness to the disease and the cause. Many people participated including celebrities and many people donated to the cause and a lot of money was raised.

I believe age and the term ‘trend” took part in that. I think younger people mainly took part in this and they were only doing it because it was a trend on social media and wanted to follow the hype of it. I do not personally believe that a lot of the participants truly knew and understood what ALS was at the time of the challenge and only did because they got challenged to dump ice water over themselves. The critics saw that people were laughing and giggling and simply saying “I have been challenged so I challenge you” versus saying something regarding ALS then challenging someone. But at the end of the day it did bring awareness otherwise.

Unfortunately I did know what ALS was prior to the ice bucket challenge because I had a family member who had ALS. He passed away from the disease around the time the ice bucket challenge began. So because of this I not only knew all about this illness but personally witnessed a lot.

They used social media as their strategy in order to keep the #chevyguy statement relevant. By using sites to keep the trend going, and the brand in the spotlight. There were jokes and humour that kept up with how memes and hashtags stay relevant within social media

Yes because this is how things are done nowadays. Through active social media. When big companies engage in their social media and they keep up with the trends, they use humour, and are active with other people on social media, authenticates them. It gives them life and keeps people interested.

With everything that has happened since 2020 it is crucial for companies to beware of what and how they say things for their brands survival. If a company posts something without thinking it can come down to a minor statement can cause a significant impact. Apologies do not work anymore with cancel culture. So if companies are 🤬 nilly with things that they use for their brand on social media it's a risk. When it comes to your brand's image you cannot afford certain risks.
