Dear Human,

I am Mr. Shark. I am writing to tell you about how overfishing, done by your people, is harming me and many sea friends of mine. From my point of view, overfishing is highly unfavorable for us, and the ocean, in general. With this letter, I hope that you can reconsider your actions for our sake.

Firstly, our natural habitat is being swept away due to overfishing. This is mainly attributed to the intensive fishing methods, like bottom trawling where you plow the seabed with a massive plow leading to habitat destruction. I have seen many friends bitterly cry as their homes are being destroyed by your plow.

Secondly, our ecosystem is terribly harmed when you try to catch us with toxic chemicals. The poisonous residue from your harvest is putting sea creatures in higher danger. For instance, heavy metals and pesticides that pollute the water are making us ill. Furthermore, our precious groundwater and surface water pollution are becoming more ominous.

Finally, although we are often known as the scary predators of the sea, our absence may lead to an imbalanced food chain. Too many sharks being removed from the water can result in missing links that may deplete the food web and lead to the extinction of other marine life, involving corals and sensitive species like sea turtles.

In my last words, I would like to say that humans have a significant impact on the shark population, also that of many other sea animals. I hope that you will consider this carefully so that your overfishing activity can be stopped by all means for the safety of our homes and our ecosystem.

Best regards,

Mr. Shark.
