On this day we dress up in colors that match the American flag. We also have cookouts where we cook lots of food and spend time with our families. Some people also take the time to go on boating trips as well. We usually end the day off by lighting fireworks or going to the stadium to watch fireworks. We celebrate independence day because this was the day America announced our independence from Great Britain.
