Sorry for not establishing any contact with you all the last period. I was really busy with first year students lectures, preparation for the exam and then correction. As you know they sat for US Culture in the main session and the results where announced yesterday. I really do apologize. As for the course, I fixed a catch-up class on Wednesday, 8th from 14:00 to 16:00 to revise for the test and make a wrap-up of the main themes and ideas in both "Bread Givers and "The Godfather". The test as I've mentioned before will be a choice between two topics. Added to that , starting from tomorrow we will establish a daily contact together both via email and the padlet where I'll post summaries about the main ideas and themes you may have in the test, I can answer your questions, correct your essays too. Don't worry, both test topics will be clear and easy and all the information you need is already on the padlet and sent via e-mail. We'll just organize the ideas and link them to their related themes, select the relevant examples you need in your essay, and fix the essay methodology too.

Explanatory essays: ‘Explain’ questions expect you to basically clarify a topic. When answering such questions, it helps to imagine you are writing for someone who knows absolutely nothing of the subject. And remember two things.1. To provide the main and necessary details 2. To give definitions for any concepts or key terms when used.In addition, always remember to back your claims with examples or quotes. In explanatory essays, it is important that you demonstrate a clear understanding of a topic or argument. This comes across most convincingly if you present a clear and logical explanation of the subject or argument to the reader. Keep in mind any ‘what’, ‘how’, ‘why’ and ‘so what’ questions as this will help you to structure a clear and logically coherent response. Coherence is extremely important in providing explanatory answers by linking ideas, using supporting details and conjunctions.
