The Neolithic Revolution was the final stage of cultural evolution or technological development among prehistoric humans. It was the transition from nomadic lifestyles to agriculture and domesticated plants and animals. It followed the Paleolithic Period and preceded the Bronze Age (the early period of metal tools) This allowed people to settle down in one place instead of moving around for food and allowed populations to grow. The Neolithic Revolution set up a foundation of agriculture, technology, and civilization.

The Green Revolution began in the 1940s this was the increase in the production of food grains. Its early dramatic successes were in Mexico and the Indian subcontinent. This is where varieties would require large amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to produce high yields. Fertilizers and pesticides were expensive and poor farmers could not afford them, this caused lower yields. Fertilizers and pesticides caused great concerns about cost and harmful enviormental effects.
