Find a book to read, maybe one you haven't read in a while and practice a 2nd grade sneak peek.
Decide how the book should be read. Then read!

Read the riddles to guess the mystery words.  Try spelling the word!
1.  It lives at the beach and can pinch!
2. Ducks like to swim here.
3. An instrument played by putting your fingers over the holes.
4. Something to ride down a snow covered hill.
Some of these words use the silent e at the end to make a long vowel sound.
Walk around our house with paper/pencil. What words can you spell? Try the silent e at the end of the word if you hear that long vowel in the middle.

Even though it's the first day of writers workshop, I bet you know from first grade what to do! We are going to write lots and lots of small moment stories about places you've been and things you've done or happened to you! Remember, writers of true stories think about small moments that have happened in their lives. They can tell the story out loud, sketch pictures to go with it, and then write, write, write!

3. Now write, write, write!

Work on your story from yesterday or start a new one! Don't forget to think of an idea (something that happened to you or something you have done) then plan how it will go BEFORE you start writing!

Then I used EXCITED. I thought of a time when I felt excited like the morning we were going to Lake Compounce to try out the water park!
