In order to acknowledge and utilize students' cultural backgrounds, the teacher must first learn about their students' culture. Learn important dates, traditions, holidays and anything else of importance and recognize these events so the students feel seen and wanted.

The teacher can also create and promote an inclusive classroom where students can share things that happened in their personal life and help the class better understand their culture by understanding and learning what they have been through.

Some strategies that teachers can incorporate to meet needs of diverse learners include but are not limited to, visual aides throughout the classroom, utilize technology to translate vocal and written work, movement based learning, and tracking student progress throughout each semester.

In order to meet the needs of diverse learners the teacher must learn which learning style works best for each student and tailor each lesson so that everything throughout the lessons and year allows all students from all backgrounds to be successful and retain what has been taught throughout the year.

Creating an inclusive classroom that celebrates cultural differences is the goal of every educator. By having pictures and posters of people from different backgrounds is a great visual aid that will help create an inclusive classroom.

Celebrating holidays from all cultures within your classroom as well as students from different background being able to celebrate and teach the class about important dates will help the class understand their culture and help them feel accepted and celebrated.

Teaching students respect and empathy from an early age can help establish a caring, respectful, and inclusive classroom where all cultures are celebrated and appreciated. Allowing all students to have their voice be heard and teaching other students to respect and listen while another student is talking can also help create a positive learning environment.

Something as simple as learning how to say hello in another language can help students from other cultures feel more accepted in your classroom. Having different areas of the classroom contain different art, posters and literature from other cultures can also help in creating an inclusive classroom.

Involving family members and the community can help make the educational setting a better place for everyone involved in it. Having members of the community come speak to the school can help with this, showing no matter what your background is you can be successful.

By taking data from the community and allowing them to say what they believe will help the educational process helps bridge the gap between the school and the community and also help bring different cultures and holidays being celebrated and respected both in the school and in the surrounding community.

Having cultural celebration weeks or months can help students and families from different cultures feel accepted and wanted within the school community. It also helps both students and staff to develop a better understand of different cultures and the background of students they interact with on a daily basis.

Something such as a Fall Festival, Spring Day, or Holiday Workshop are all great ways to bring the school and community together in a non educational setting. Having vendors and workshops offered by people within the community from a variety of backgrounds can help the community learn about these cultures all while having these cultures celebrated and respected. Also having food vendors from multiple backgrounds is a way to bring the community together over something everyone loves, food.
