Instead of talking about how some music is good because "it sounds cool", Ratliff goes into extensive detail to explain all the deeper meanings and concept of music. Not only does he get into the technical music terms like music theory, but he goes over some messages that music can communicate to listeners without using an actual language that you can speak. I loved Ratliffs interpretation of specific songs and musical concepts, even though I disagreed with a few of his opinions.
