Loyalty nowadays isn't as important because there's so many of us now that you'll just end up finding another person to be your friend or do something for you. Also people think about how loyalty can bring you down the wrong path by sticking to one or multiple people. You could be being loyal to someone who might break rules or break the law and then you might be called part of it by being loyal to them.

Despite my last answer, loyalty is more important to me than popularity to me. A lot of people that you don't know that much about isn't as much as a few friends that you're close to and are loyal to you. But you still do have to be loyal to them as well because it's just simple rules of respect

Some of the imagery in the poem is that natures first green is gold and it's the nicest but stays the least. Another is that the leaves subsides and sinks to grief and falls

That not everything good can stay and the best moments only last for short time like an hour like it states in the poem.

It can relate that in the short term saving kids in the church fire was gold and then they lost it in the aftermath of it. Also that the gold for Johnny was him living and then the gold hue was gone when he died and it affected not only him but each of the Greasers.
