Duolingo is a website, that can also be used as an app to helps us learning new languages. This app is divided by levels and give us 5 min of german writing listening or speaking exercises every day - from the most basic german vocabulary to more complex. We can also do tests and repeat modules if we wish. I find it very useful because it reminds me every day. This everyday practice is what makes us learn faster and get used to sounds and words. This app also has a forum where people can discuss the solutions of the exercises. Lists of the most common verbs and words are also available. So far I am on level 6 but I intend to complete all the levels. I think this app keeps me motivated and is really easy, funny and easygoing way to learn.

I have made friendships with native german speakers or fluent german speakers. Since I told them I am learning german they always try to speak a bit with me in basic german. Many times this makes me realise I should study a bit more because I find my using google translator as help for simple words. Whatsapp, calls, skype and face-to-face are some of the interactions I have with my german speaking friends. These type of interactions really motivates me to look for new expressions to impress my friends, and many times they also correct my mistakes.

I have used quizlets to improve my german knowledge. I really like quizlets they are fun and useful and we can combine different types of exercises to cover all our flaws.

I also did the formative exams again because some I didn't have time to finish during class. These exams allows us to have a perception of our progress and where should we improve ourselfs. So far I think I have done a good progress but i need to improve my grammar, vocabulary and speaking.

During the class, some of my colleagues suggested me to listen to watch some youtube Vblogs. I check and followed some of those suggestions however I start looking for more vblogs but many I found were too complex for beginners. I really liked this blog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_kw0YDA5WY where the main quotes are introduced to us and it is very beginners learners oriented. Some of the quotes I already knew but others I didn't.
Overall, I have improved my german in a fun easygoing way at the same time I added new information to my "summary" book.

Grammar exercises and Movies

To improve my german, I did online exercises such as quizlet and also some of the exercises from the book. My german friend also recommended me to see german movies from Netflix with English subtitles ("Love me!" and "Victoria") and it was actually very useful because some of the most used words I would try to see if I understand the meaning just by analysing the subtitle. With this exercise, I had some fun at the same time I was learning new words and sounds. Even some german culture can be captured during this movies. I would recommend to anyone to do it because it is a great motivation when (not so often) the characters speak some words and we actually understand them already.

I believe that BBC fact files are very useful, especially the essential vocabulary and key language. I print them all out to improve my "summary book" and to do their quizzes. I think some questions of the quizzes are a bit hard for me (or I didn't understand them so well) so I prefer other platforms to practice my german.

Since our classes advance at a very fast pace, I decided to do a summary book where every week I check and rewrite the main vocabulary learned, expressions, verbs and conjugation and compile them in a separate book for future use. In this way, I refresh almost weekly what we have learned at the same time I have a summary of the main things from our german course.

During the class, some of my colleagues suggested me to listen to some german music. Following their suggestion, I used one of the proposed music channels on MOLE which is a Spotify list with pop german songs. This allowed me to get used to the language sounds https://open.spotify.com/user/goethe-institut/playlist/25ziWpv0zBpQ2N0OdvHYHE. This is very handy because in can listening even when I am working on another subjects. Overall, I have improved my german in a fun easygoing way at the same time I added new information to my "summary" book.
