The chosen texts above are based on the underlying concept of asserting the identity of Filipinos amidst the impact of colonizers in terms of language use, communication, and literary. All the text are tackling the representation happening in a discourse where involved parties are foreigners and natural-born citizens in a particular country mostly related to the Philippines. It is to know the varying context and practices of othering since in the country, even its own citizens are subjected to othering by foreigners visiting the country. These texts are also chosen to identify the colonial mentality not only among average Filipinos but also to literary writers considering the fact that literary works have the ability to shape notions and perceptions of its readers depending on their interpretation of the text. Choosing the texts was not easy since it must encompass the possible subtopics. The hardest to find text is under the literary category, and it is even the hardest to critic. In general, my basis is to find and to follow a common trend among the texts in order to pave a clear way in my final project, and other articles also need to be used since it embodies new and highly sensible ideas needed to be more popularized for the benefit of everyone.

These texts will be useful since they vary on the focused subjects from international organizations to criticizing literary writers. It provides varying manifestations of identity crisis that may be used in analyzing Filipinos having problems in standing by with their identity to the extent where they undergo erasing their identity to blend in. This is also to shed light to the IPs in the Philippines who are coerced to keep up with the demands in the country particularly on advancement and development where in fact they have their own definition of development such as protecting and keeping their ancestral lands compared to the definition of most Filipinos which is being globally competitive. This is to enlighten and create a new norm that will strengthen Filipino identity and assert themselves even during discourses with foreigners.
