My personal definition for the word rise would be the act of keeping faith and standing tall. I believe this to be true because if you can not defend what you believe in then you can not prove anyone wrong. All you will do is fail and that is the opposite of rising.

My reason

The reason I chose for this to be my word is simple. I have never been outstanding in one area and I am looked down upon because of that. I thought that if I could rise above others that maybe one day I would be someone useful and not just sit around waiting for something to happen. I want to make my own path even if I have to break bad habits that will eventually end up biting me in the behind. I plan to rise!

A character that I fell showed the rise word is Neville Longbottom from J.K Rowling's Harry Potter. I feel that he represented the word rise throughout the book. All his life he had to deal with people expecting him to live up the his parents legacy. Who had been tortured when he was small. Finally when in the last book he finds out that the one who could save them all 'died' he was the first to stand up and defend him. The shy, forgetful boy who was always picked on, stood up for his friend. When everyone else lost hope, Neville represents the quiet but significant rising.

Jenni Rivera

I feel that she is one of the best definitions of rise. When Jenni was in her teens and had not yet finished high school she had her first child. Her father had always said she had an amazing voice and she did. This child was one of the set backs in her career. When she married her first husband she wanted to start singing again. She started to become a hit on the airways and everywhere you went. She had three husbands and five children. She was always helping the community in any way she could. People all around the world loved her. That is why when her plane crashed near Iturbide, Nuevo León on December 9, 2012. All the people on the plane died. It hit international news for weeks many people looked up to this proud Latin American singer. She was an inspiration to many people and that is why I chose her for my one word project.
