2- What is the effect of Parrett’s use of ‘But’ to open the large paragraph on p.195 and why do you think she uses it?
Suggests that there will be a change from the quiet of the family eating dinner. Leads into the father throwing his plate of food at the wall.
3- How does Bo make Isla feel?
Confident – happy with who she is, comfortable.
