Either for picking things up with it or anything else , scrap yards use them for picking up cars and placing them in a big pile. , these industries pay a lot for these machines for they are very pricey , up to range of 30,000 and up. The device is usually built in the form of an circle attached to a long copper wire to send the electric current to turn the pulse on or off. , or many factories make them in an H-frame and those tend to be the more pricey ones and they use them for picking things up , or pulling things along a track. Also the pull or push of the energy can be manipulated based on how much current of electricity you send through the wire it is attached to. Electromagnets aren't just used for big industries , but are in our everyday life too , such as the doctor . if you were to get an MRI , they are in that device also , this is why they tell you not to wear metal in the machine , also motors , generators , speakers , disk drives and electronic devices. Maybe even in your phone!
