Be responsible for bringing all materials to class so they can be productive. Students should be able to explain the why to questions and be able to expand on topics.

Should be listed 1st | I think the Riverside ISD Student Actions are great. Should we add a piece about time management, completion of tasks assigned by teachers, and playing an active role in their educational experience?

Make learning appealing to students and connecting learning to their lives or future plans.

Invite students to before or afterschool tutorials. Teachers should come up with better ways to present materials, so students are thinking at a higher level. Curriculum taught should go beyond the basics. Teachers should have more discussions and working in groups/partners during lessons.

Should be listed 3rd | I like the Riverside ISD Actions for teachers as well, however, we need to be specific about what strategies, programs, resources we are utilizing to provide transparency and clarification to ensure all stakeholders are on the same page and aware of expectations. I think including a piece about teachers having the opportunity to submit feedback and communicate with campus and district level leaders on strategies, programs, and resources we are utilizing will help empower teachers and feel like they have a seat at the table.

Provide the training and support they need in small increments throughout the school year so training can be applied immediately.

Give both positive and negative feedback to teachers in a timely manner. Attend PLC meetings to have a better understanding to what each subject is working on. Take the ideas of teachers on how to improve students learning to district leaders. Encourage great teachers to host PD.

Should be listed last | There should be Actions for District Level Leaders & Campus Level Leaders. I like what Riverside ISD has for leaders as well, but there needs to be more specific information to provide transparency and accountability. Example: Don't just say "ensure teachers have sufficient planning time" be explicit in how leaders at the district are going to make that happen and support campus level leaders allowing that to happen. There could be a piece about providing a space where teachers can communicate with leaders about what is working and what needs to be changed. Give teachers a voice in how monitoring & implementation can happen and consider the feedback when making decisions.

More family involvement through volunteering opportunities at the school.

Should be listed 2nd | I like what Riverside ISD has here as well. I think including specifics here is important as well. Skyward, Canvas, Blackboard, Classlinks etc. with embedded resources (FAQ sheets, links included directly to the website for each, etc.) so they know what resources they need to access to improve involvement. We need to have a one stop shop so families know where to find everything.

Have more opportunities for families to attend meetings that fit their schedules.

Give teachers the autonomy and space to come up with the best strategies with a representative from each school. Find the best teachers from each school to demonstrate strategies that work in the classroom.
