This act replaced NCLB. It provided grants to states to improve the quality of their educational system. The goal was to have less federal involvement in public schools and give more power back to the states and local districts.

I think this act is important because it gave more funding to schools with low income families in order for them to have more opportunities in the public education system. This allowed states to choose how they service EBs based on their states' needs. They have multiple standards to choose from, or they can create their own based on federal regulation.
