Caitlyn Jenner had a series of different events that occurred leading up to her outing.  Caitlyn Jenner went through a lot of things not only within herself but within society and societies rules and "expectations."
Caitlyn trusted herself and felt that this was what she needed to do and what she felt was right. She went through multiple surgeries, hormone changes, and a world of criticism that was inevitable.  An interview conducted later in the year of her transition with Diane Sawyer, she states, "There is peace in my soul, and all of that confusion has left me." Pink died her hair pink when she first started releasing songs and producing her music. She did this as an act of nonconformity because she wanted to make herself stand out amongst other singers and pop stars.  She wanted to be different, new, and interesting.  
She has always had pink hair since day one, she is a perfect example of nonconformity because she lives her life in a way no one else does. She learned time after time again throughout this deadly competition that she can't trust anyone and she needs to rely on her self and the skills she knows and has learned along the way.
