You can use the relationship between sizes since children more than a few months can distinguish stimuli by size.

So we can create a test by using shapes and sizes and do it as in the video. At first we'll ask them to sort by shapes, give them a little break then sort by size.

Using a regular tennis ball and a kid sized beach ball (but it’s bigger than the tennis ball), kids should sort which ball goes in which basket.

First round would be color based, red beach ball goes in red basket, green tennis ball goes into green basket.

Second round would be size based, red beach ball (bigger) would go into the green basket that has a label on it labeled ‘big’ and the green tennis ball goes into the red basket labeled ‘small’.

Stage 1:

2 different stimuli

Smooth and rough

The child would be shown two different objects that either have a rough or smooth texture. Then the child would put the object into the box which they think is correct. Then repeat it 10 times for results. No patterns and

stimuli should be randomized.

Stage 2:

2 different stimuli

Star and square

The same as before but the prompt will be star and square instead of smooth and rough.

Note: The stimuli is the same object in both scenarios, i.e. rough stars, smooth stars, rough squares, smooth squares. Repeat it the same amounts of times as the first stage

We would make our sorting test interesting by allowing children to physically feel and touch the objects and categorize them based on their shapes and colors as well as provide variety of shapes. (Pls see the attached picture as a reference)

To make it more interesting, the instructor can also increase the complexity of the game by coming up with different combinations of the sorting tasks (put circle shapes in a red space)
