However, since Uruguay is in the Southern Hemisphere, it falls in the summer for them. That means that there is no Christmas break because they are already on Summer vacation. That also means it is very hot during Christmas. They have their own version of Santa, who they call Papa Noel. People set up manger scenes and get Christmas trees which they decorate. Late on Christmas Eve and early on Christmas morning, everyone sets off fireworks.
