I went to a preschool that was affiliated with a church, so everyday after class the teachers would bring us there and read the Bible. This experience helped me learn more about religion at a young age and expand my knowledge. This is a photo of the church we used to go to.

In my early school career, I've always had an IEP. I was unable to learn in a large, traditional classroom because of distractions. There was too much noise or too many people around me, and I also could not take tests in the class. I and a small group of other students would be taken to a different classroom and we would have our tests read to us or given calculators. this experience helped me develop successful learning techniques for myself. I added the photo of the math equations because math was always the hardest subject for me.

Early physical development involves learning how to write. I first learned how to write by tracing letters and numbers with a pencil multiple times. the development of fine motor skills helped me "discover" my own handwriting. This photo is similar to the assignments I was given to learn how to write.

The increase of strength and muscle development during childhood helped me play sports during gym class and join a Taekwondo club. Due to the increase of strength, and me being bigger than the other kids, I was unable to spar with them, so I had to spar with adults instead. This photo shows the normal sparring gear used in Taekwondo.

As a freshman in college, I was confident Id be able to wake up early for classes. I ended up being late to my first class many times because of how early it was. As a junior now, I learned that taking classes that start later in the day are more beneficial to my critical thinking and comprehension skills because I was able to sleep longer. I chose this photo because I know that sleep directly impacts grades and mood.

In my freshman year of college, I took a class about theology and the humanities. I grew up in a Roman Catholic family, so I didn't know about any other religions until that class. I learned that Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are Abrahamic religions and all three have similar beliefs. learning this causes me to evaluate my past biases about those religions and look into each of them more. this reflects my development in critical thinking skills and challenging my own biases.

My early learning was shaped by physical rewards. My teachers used positive reinforcement to motivate the students. Food, stickers, pencils, little knick knacks were often used to motivate us to do homework or study. This reflects the behaviorist idea that learning happens through positive and negative reinforcement. This is a photo of BF Skinner, he's known as the father of operant conditioning.

when taking notes in class, i like to use flashcards for vocabulary terms and venn diagrams when comparing and contrasting. during my school years, Ive realized the most effective way for me to retain information aligns with the cognitive theory. Adding meaning to what I learn in class helps me remember and apply it to homework or tests.

Technology plays a large part in how I learn. In high school, I took beginners german, and I used Duolingo to help me study for tests and practice my speaking. Duolingo uses rewards like hearts, streaks, and leadership rankings as positive reinforcement to encourage users to continue using it. this reflects the behaviorism theory, which mentions reinforcing behavior with rewards
