On Writing: I've always enjoyed composition and journaling when I was younger. In high school, I would always write last minute papers and would never revise them. I found out quickly in undergrad that this was not the best strategy. Now that I am writing more technical and scientific pieces for publication, I am still struggling to be cohesive, yet concise. I enjoy metaphors, flowing descriptive imagery, and attempts at humor. I find that I write best in pieces with lots of revision.

On Writing: Writing has always been a huge part of my life, and has often served as an outlet for stress, especially through soft poetry. I've always dreamed of writing my own novel, and despite trying and failing several times in the past, I am now trying again. I love my writing to flow like water, and I tend to write in the same way that I'm thinking. Sometimes this leads to a lot of editing, especially as I'm in the process of writing.

To prepare myself for writing, I usually spit out a bunch of ideas on a document and later organize my thoughts when I begin writing actual paragraphs. On rubrics, I write examples of evidence I want to use in my writing next to each requirement- I make sure to use each piece of information that I feel supports my claims by checking them off as I go. On Writing: Despite being diagnosed with disgraphia I have spent the last 10 years learning to improve my writing.  I still struggle with many things but with hard work and time I can usually put together a solid argument.  Often, I begin my first draft by transcribing myself speaking on a topic because I am far better at conveying my point in giving a speech than I am when simply writing.  In addition, I can type quite quickly as a result of significant video game experience.
