         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.  Make sure everything is consistent with the real world that the children live in.  It's very important to avoid stereotypes.<br><br>2.  Does the theme emerge slowly and consistently in a natural sense from the story?  It shouldn't be preachy.<br><br>3.  How does the subject matter relate to modern readers?  Taboo topics from history are now becoming a popular subject to read among modern readers.  </div>]]></description>

I would like to learn what type of books are considered controversial for today's young readers and how to evaluate them myself.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After evaluating realistic fiction myself, I would share titles with students who have gone through similar experiences as the book.  The student could be reading a book autobiographically and recognize they are not alone in their personal experience.  It's also important to share these stories with students who have not gone through similar experiences, in order for them to gain empathy for people who have.  </div>]]></description>
