In their fancy cars and their limousines. Been high in the Rockies under the evergreens. But I know what I'm needing. And I don't want to waste more time ¨ (Joel).} Seeing all of the rich people in their cars makes him realize that wanting other people dreams is not worth chasing. Her thought of the American Dream was freedom and education, since her parents didn't have a chance to get either of those. Realizing she doesn't want the same life for her kids to be raised, education was needed for money and support. The dream job was to become a nurse, however later along it wasn't meant for her. She broke the chain of poverty, because she was committed to getting out of the living environment by believing to do better than her mom. The green card was a stepping point in the family, because there was hope on getting jobs, college, and freedom. This part of the movie was during the night of the battles and saved 75 men. These people are fighting for their freedom and during the horrific nights, Doss never gave up on saving lives. He carried people to safety by carrying them on his shoulder, then using a rope dropping them down a cliff. His American Dream was to join the army, not hurt people, and save as many lives as he possibly could. This movie portrays a lot of hard work being paid off can lead to success.
