The Spanish siesta is one of the country's best-known traditions. Nowadays, few Spaniards can travel home for a midday nap, but many shops still close at lunchtime, usually from 2 to 4 or 5 p.m. Large chains, however, are usually open all day without interruption. Surnames

Each one has two surnames, which they take from the father (first surname) and from the mother (second surname). A woman keeps her surnames when she marries rather than taking her husband's surnames.
