My tradition is, every year my parents Celebrate Christmas and on December 1st we start decorating the house by putting the stockings up, the Christmas tree and setting up the lights.

I love watching football, it's my favorite sport to watch and play. Whenever a football game is live, my dad would turn the television on and watch the football game and I would watch with him. Football is a very important thing in my culture and family.

Once or twice a year, my family gathers for a special occasion at a nice, fancy restaurant. It's a cherished tradition that allows us to come together, enjoy a delicious meal, and create lasting memories. These moments are always very meaningful to us.

I'm very big on rap music. Hip-Hop is my favorite type of music because it is very enjoyable and it helps me relax. Hip-Hop music is what brings me to peace and helps me focus. I also enjoy it so much because it is what I grew up listening to. Hip-Hop runs through my family/culture. My dad was a big fan of it and he is the one who introduced me into it.

Friends

Hanging out with friends is what I enjoy most. Hanging out with friends helps me realize the type of person I am and it helps me realize the type of people I enjoy being around. Being around friends is also fun because they are my motivation. Friends are there to have my back whenever I need too. They would stand up for me when no one else will or would. They take care of me as if I am there family. The best part about friends is them being there for me when I need it. They are there when I am feeling down, they motivate me to feel better and to brighten my mood.

Food

Food is a huge part of my culture, and I’m always cooking and feeding my family. Soul food is especially significant on my mom’s side of the family, and it’s something we all cherish. My grandma prepares it all the time during the holidays, and her cooking is a big part of what makes those celebrations so special.

On my dad’s side of the family, barbecuing and grilling is a huge tradition.

Learning about different cultures helps break down stereotypes and misconception. It's important to know everybody's culture because you don't want to offend someone by saying or doing the wrong thing. It's important to learn about peoples beliefs, culture and customs. So it's good to be educated on beliefs and customs.

My nationality is African American and that is a very important thing in my culture. My parents always told me to embrace my blackness because its a very special and important thing to have. They always told me not to be ashamed of my skin complexion. Being an African American is an amazing thing to be and i'm proud to be an African American.

Both of my parents were born and raised in Chicago, and I was also born here, so the city holds a special place in my heart. I take a lot of pride in being from Chicago, and it's a big part of who I am. My siblings and cousin were all born here too, so we share a deep connection to the city. Chicago culture is incredibly important to me.

Technology plays an incredibly important role in our lives, especially for my generation. We can accomplish lots of things just with a few taps or clicks. We can easily send a text, send money, or just talk to a love one with technology. With technology we can stay connected and know whats going on around the world. What used to take hours can happen in an instant now with technology.
