I would like to ECHO Deenah's email that she sent regarding Summer Concerts. The team has done a fabulous job bringing the concerts to Warner Park! Big SHOUT OUT to Deenah who has been the leader within the team. From Deenah, "I was going to give a "shout out" to the Concert Team only but decided to do it more publicly because they've been rocking it for five weeks now; and, it's a lot of work! We've had record crowds that are multicultural, multi-generational, enthusiastic and fun loving!!! The team sets the stage each week for people to hang out at the park with us, listen to some great music, enjoy good food and socialize with neighbors and friends old and new! A handful of our CM & MHR team, who either had clients living there or were asked to assist, spent today helping those distressed and/or in need of resources. Great Job with Nutrition Reports

I wanted to say thank you to the Nutrition Managers and FP Directors for all of your work keeping the meals going for our older adults. Comparing the March Nutrition Reports with the February reports so far almost everyone has had a huge jump in meals served and the donations. It’s been a rocky year for the meals program but when everyone pulls together you make it happen and are reporting some really high numbers. That is great the community hasn’t completely lost faith in us to provide for them.

The donation amounts may not seem like much but the impact on how many more meals we could potentially serve is the positive steps to keep moving forward.

So thank you to everyone from staff at the FP to Dane County staff for keeping our communities fed!

We do a lot of great work for the older adults we serve. I probably do not express often enough how much I appreciate all you do. There are many times when we/you go the extra mile but may never hear or see the impact it has on another person's life. Today I have the pleasure to share some heartwarming feedback I received in the past 24 hours.

Yesterday I received a letter (see attachment) from a displaced resident of Monona Hills Apartments expressing his appreciation for NewBridge stepping up and helping as much as we did. Today I received an email from a social worker at SSM Health at Home. She praised all our case managers as excellent advocates, for our knowledge of resources, and for the support we gave displaced residents. She witnessed so much care and support being provided to these individuals through NewBridge and wanted to extend thanks to all involved for everything they have done and continue to do.

These responses validate what I already know about you, the NewBridge staff, It makes me extremely proud as the Director to see/hear the great work you do being recognized by our clients/participants and other service providers in the community.

My name is Maggie Rufflo, an MSW with SSM Health at Home. I wanted to send a quick note your way regarding the Social Work team at NewBridge. As you may be aware, there was a fire at the Monona Hills Apartment Compex in March and as a result all residents were displaced. I was actively working with some residents of this building and have been assisting with housing applications and counseling.
I specifically worked with Kaleigh Coloso and a number of other unnamed SWs throughout this process. I wanted to simply state that every Social Worker and support offered through NewBridge was an excellent advocate, resource, and support for these displaced residents. I had seen much care and support being provided to these individuals through NewBridge and wanted to extend thanks to all involved for everything they have done and continue to do.

I asked for your information to share this and wanted to say thank you to the NewBridge SC and all involved with helping these residents and the community through this process. Thank you!

A little late but the sentiments are still very strong! The Bilingual CMs Vanina, Kayleigh and Alirio helped out during Hispanic Heritage Month from the end of September through the month of October when we were without a HD&I Coordinator. They monitored the HD&I cell phone for messages and returned calls as needed, they attended and helped out at the HD&I events that were held both during work hours and non work hours, and they graciously gave their time and support to the HD&I participants/clients as needed! Thank you to all 3 of you for your dedication to our older adults!

Creative Power, Community Partner award recipient

Last month NewBridge received a Creative Power, Community Partner award from Arts for All Wisconsin. We have been collaborating for a number of years but our work together really grew during the COVID pandemic. It began with Zoom presentations for older adults, using textiles to help meditate and tell stories. Now we are partnering on an
in-person program for individuals with early to mid-stage memory loss and their care partners. This program, SPARK!, provides fun experiences that stimulate conversations, provide peer support, and inspire creativity through engagement in workshops and programs. Thank you Arts for All for creatively using arts to enhance the quality of life for older adults!

I showed up for a surprise inspection at the Monona Senior Center and also had our state director, Sara Koenig, there along with me, too. As always, Kristen let her processes and organization shine through and I couldn’t be more proud of her and our nutrition program processes. Sara was extremely impressed – mentioned the volunteers following all safety/sanitation guidelines, they knew their tasks, everything was running smoothly without Kristen needing to give step by step instructions, all temp and training records were up to date and thoroughly documented, etc. Everything was above and beyond and you can plainly see that you do everything with such care.

I know my surprise inspections are never ‘fun,’ but I always enjoy seeing you in your element. We truly showed off to the state today…Sara said that today really showcased a ‘best practice’ of how everything should be done.

Sara was there today because she was auditing my practices (and she hasn’t done this since 2019), so I THANK YOU Kristen for being on top of everything and showing her that we give it 110% in Dane.

The Meriter falls team came yesterday to help educate on fall prevention, and we were welcomed like old friends. The case managers are incredibly kind and each and every one was engaged and attentive to the content. They asked great questions and brought up great points to include in assessments moving forward. a HUGE shout out to Vanina is due because she worked tirelessly for a long time (~ 2 years) to get a client connected to Medicaid benefits! He recently had a major health change which is very costly. She worked so hard and did not give up when it seemed that he was not eligible and was able to get him connected to the health care benefits through Medicaid. Way to go Vanina!!!

I wanted to highlight Sammy for the hard work she does Every. Single. Day. with NewBridge!!!! Not only does she case manage her caseload but she also manages the CM intake and is great at following up on this. She also is a DEI Core Team member and represents NB at the COALESCE meetings. The best part about Sammy though is she is so creative and thinks outside the box, she advocates not only for clients but also for staff and NewBridge!! She is caring and compassionate about her work. She is the best support for me and I truly appreciate her!!
