         <description><![CDATA[<div>Joseph initiated Mormonism in the 1820s. He was visited by the angel Moroni, who lead him to golden tablets near his home. He translated the tablets and titled it the Book of Mormon and published it in 1830. Later that year he founded the church of Jesus Christ of lattter-day saints. Smith and Mormon converts started moving westward. By the mid 1800s Nauvoo, Illinois was the showplace for Mormonism.&nbsp; Joseph Smith was murdered shortly after 1844. His successor Bringhm Young did an amazing job carrying his legacy.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mormonism began because of of the seventh day sect, people decided the day was unpredictable. Joseph smith who was a recent convert told his story of whitnessing an angel that lead him to golden plates that read the Book of Mormon. It described one true church and a "lost tribe of Israel". The book also pictured a young prophet who would establish a new and pure kingdom of Christ. He attracted thousands of followers. After exploring they settled sown in a town in Illinois, there smith petitioned congress for separate territorial status. He even ran for the presidency in 1844. Violence escalated in nearby towns which resulted in Smith's murder. The Mormons to this day continue their search for the land of promise.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Effects of the Mormon Movement was westward expansion. The church was founded in upstate New York, but it moved to Kirtland, Ohio in 1831. An outpost in Jackson County, Missouri was also created in 1831.&nbsp;In 1839, the Mormons moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. There the Nauvoo temple was created. After Smith’s death, Birmingham Young moved the Mormons to Nebraska temporarily and eventually to Utah where most Mormons reside today. </div>]]></description>
