Title: Appreciation Example of "Looking at Mount Tai" by Du Fu

Today, let's appreciate Du Fu's "Looking at Mount Tai".

How majestic is Mount Tai? Its greenery stretches endlessly over Qi and Lu.

Nature has endowed it with divine beauty; the sun and moon divide the day and night.

The surging clouds stir my heart; I strain my eyes to watch the returning birds. When I ascend to the summit, all the mountains below will seem insignificant.

Appreciation:

The first couplet: "How majestic is Mount Tai? Its greenery stretches endlessly over the land of Qi and Lu." It begins with a question to arouse the reader's curiosity about Mount Tai. "Its greenery stretches endlessly over the land of Qi and Lu" uses the vast distance to highlight the mountain's height. The lush greenery on the land of Qi and Lu has no end, which shows the grandeur of Mount Tai.

The second couplet reads: "Nature endows it with divine beauty; the sun and moon divide the day and night." The character "钟" personifies nature, as if it has a special fondness for Mount Tai, bestowing upon it all its wonders and loveliness. The word "割" is used ingeniously, suggesting that from the northern side of the mountain, the sunlight seems to be cut off by an enormous knife, highlighting the mountain's imposing presence that blocks out the sky and the sun.

The third couplet: "The surging clouds stir my heart, and I strain my eyes to watch the returning birds." It depicts the scene of a close look. The clouds in the mountains keep emerging one after another, stirring the poet's heart. To take in all this, the poet strains his eyes to look, as if his eyes are about to burst, showing the poet's infatuation with the scenery of Mount Tai.

The last couplet: "I shall climb to the summit and look down on all the lesser peaks." These two lines are immortal verses, demonstrating the poet's fearlessness in the face of difficulties, his boldness to reach the peak and look down upon everything, as well as conveying a positive and uplifting spirit.
