Our playgroup for children ages birth to 3 are designed to help children learn in a play environment where they have opportunities to socialize with other children of all abilities; learning basic concepts and skills through hands-on experiences and activities that promote sensory exploration, fine motor, pre-literacy, problem solving, and social skill development.  We support the caregiver-child relationship within a safe and secure learning environment.  Our goal is for each child to develop the self-confidence, independence, and foundation for all future learning.

There are so many benefits that come from engaging in play! For one, this type of independent play allows children to develop their own interests and skills. Additionally, it provides them with a sense of autonomy and control as they get to choose what they do with the materials. Playgroup also give children a chance to practice problem-solving and critical thinking as they figure out how to use the materials in new ways. Finally, the playgroup offers a great opportunity for parents and children to bond as you get to watch your child engage in their interests and learn new things.

Momma G Farms offers a free Kid's Gardening Adventures outdoor
classroom the 1st Saturday of each month at 10am. The class is free but you
must register to attend because seating is limited. Each month we explore
our edible plant farm and discuss the seasonal changes, we harvest and taste
any edible plant or fruit in season, observe the chickens and Guinea fowl
and talk about how the help our organic farm. We discuss pollinators and
our resident gopher tortoise. Each class we have a planned activity either
propagating with seeds or cuttings, or other gardening or nature oriented
activity to take home. Momma G Farms is a not for profit 501c3 educational
farm and we operate by donations and the sale of plants and products
produced by those plants.

• Start preparing an evacuation plan now. If you have a disability, identify yourself to building managers and help devise an effective emergency procedure. People of all abilities must be equally prepared for an emergency evacuation. It is critical that everyone works together. Begin creating your evacuation plan by answering these key questions.

• Ask family, friends and co-workers with disabilities — including those with vision, hearing and mobility issues — about their personal evacuation concerns and needs. Keep in mind that the needs of pregnant women, older adults, and people with injuries or illnesses are often similar to specific needs of people with disabilities.

• Find "buddies." These can be co-workers or friends with whom you plan and practice. Buddies find you in an emergency and can provide planned assistance in the event of an emergency or evacuation.

• Evaluate the area. Predetermine and practice your evacuation route with your buddies, who also know how to operate any special equipment needed to evacuate someone safely.

1. Wind Mitigation Home Inspections.  All owners of site-built, single-family, residential homes or townhouses are eligible to make application for a wind mitigation home inspection. This inspection will identify those elements of your home’s construction which could be improved to mitigate your home against future wind damages. All inspections will be provided to eligible homeowners free of charge by the State. Applications will be reviewed and approved in the order in which they are received until current funding is exhausted.

2. Wind Mitigation Grants for home retrofitting construction for improvements identified on the free wind mitigation inspection.

Knowing your child needs help can be an overwhelming and scary feeling for parents. Early Steps provides individual support throughout the enrollment process to help you stay informed. Here is what you can expect

That’s why the Early Steps program works closely with you and your family to construct an Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) to aid your child’s development.

The IFSP identifies the main areas of concern and list of priorities you have about your child’s development. As the parent, you are the most knowledgeable source of information on your child’s needs, which is why your input and participation is an important piece of your child’s IFSP. We strive to understand the whole picture of your family, culture, values and perspectives to determine the most beneficial services and support for your child and family.

After your child is referred to Early Steps and determined eligible for services, a service coordinator will be assigned to your family to serve as the central point of contact. Service coordinators strive to be a supportive, communicative and responsive resource for families.

Technical Assistance and Training System (TATS) is a statewide project which supports programs serving prekindergarten children with disabilities by providing technical assistance and training. This support promotes high quality programs leading to positive outcomes for children and their families.

A Family Resource Specialist (FRS) is a person who is a family member of a child who was eligible for or received early intervention services. The FRS has firsthand experience of Early Steps and can be a valuable resource for families participating in the program.
