A) Measuring
Double-check your measurements, to ensure that everything is correctly cut and pattern pieces will line up with each other.
B) Basting for Fitting
Basting for the fitting will include the canvas for the idea of the garment's shape and structure, the main fabric (i.e. wool), and the lining material used for the back of the waistcoat. Be sure to baste the garment so that the unique contours of the client's body are followed. For example, if the client has a hunch in their back, and one shoulder sits higher than the other, ensure that the waistcoat will sit properly on both shoulders and the hunch.
C) Felling the Lining
The lining will need to be fell-stitched to the main fabric, and itself (for the back pieces), after the baste fitting, once the fitting has confirmed the garment's shape. It will be done so the stitches are barely visible.

1. Ensure that the client is wearing fitted, lightweight garments when taking measurements. Request that they empty their pockets as this will affect your measurement. Be especially careful that they are not wearing anything baggy, with padding, or so very tight and constrictive that it alters their shape and would affect the fit of the garment if they were to remove them.
2. Measure everything at least twice, so you don't make a mistake. A client could shift their weight or change posture. Similarly, make sure that they are standing straight and looking forward, but that they are relaxed so that your measurements reflect their best posture.
