I think start tiny means not to think unrealistically. Celebrities didn’t become famous in a day, authors don’t pump out a book right as they sit down. Everyone has to start somewhere. Even if it’s an actors first off broadway show or a top chef who used to bake from a box. You don’t have to make it big to be successful. But I feel that eventually we start to dream big and imagine where we can go from where we are. Thats what leads us to become famous authors, actors, chefs or whatever we pursue. I think start tiny dream big means that you might start out with something small but from there you can dream up bigger possibilities for yourself. In this course I hope that I’ll learn to push myself. I feel as though I’ve always had boundaries, but I want to break through them and try something new. I also want to do projects about things that are important to me and that I’m passionate about. I hope to learn that I can dream big and hopefully achieve my dreams.

If I had a magic carpet I would want to go to Malaysia. Malaysia has caves to explore, strawberry and tea plantations and much more to discover. Over there the weather is warm and the views amazingly spectacular. I also have family who lives there and one day I hope I’m going to meet them. In addition to all this there is also different culture to be experienced . I think it’d be a pretty neat place to explore since it’s a lot different from Columbus Ohio, which makes it special since it’s something I’ve never seen before.

An Ode

Exploration, adventure
My eyes would hardly believe, there’s most
amazing things to see
Wild animals, yummy
treats and family to
meet

I would like go mobile. My tiny house will be on wheels so I can travel all around. For a career I’d love to write for travel magazine, taking pictures rather than just seeing them and taking in all new experiences. Traveling would also allow me to try new food, take a look at the wildly vast world of culture and be spontaneous with my choices. I think part of the reason I chose this option is because my family travels a lot together which has given me sort of a sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things. Also growing up I’ve loved long road trips, plane rides and I’ve always wanted to spend a couple days on a train. So I think it would be convenient to have a house that I could take with me wherever I need to go.

I’ve noticed that I’ve been creating a lot of space for the things that I do with my family. Though I do have areas for myself for studying, reading, writing and sketching. But most of my rooms are so that I can host family dinners and sleepovers. I also think that I wouldn’t want my house on wheels so much as in a quiet country part of Columbus, that way I’m closer to everyone. I think that I could explore this in the sense that the people in my life are one of the most important things to me. I think a passion I would explore is relationships, in terms of friends and family. I’d think it would be interesting to explore relationships between people and the interaction and options of people. I’d like to study the science of relationships.

Research

I’ve decided to split my research into three separate articles. One on Muhammad Ali’s early life, one on his boxing life, and one on his life outside of boxing. Right now I’m attempting to discover more on his early life. Specifically I’d like to know what his childhood was like, his influences and how he got into boxing in the first place. But what I’ve come to discover is not many websites or online resources tell about his early life. So I turned to a different resource, our school library. But again I hit a dead end there. So I was given the idea to check out the public library. I found plenty books there that I’m hoping will serve their purpose. But it gets me wondering. Why don’t online resources have more about his early life? Isn’t the most important part of our stories where we came from? Now I know I want to compare where he came from to where he got to in the end.

Recently, I turned to books instead of the internet. I had high expectations of these books in terms of finding out more about Muhammad Ali’s childhood. But to my dismay the books, while still giving me information, didn’t give me everything I needed. So I’ve decided to turn back to my internet search and search deeper than a couple links. I’m still also counting on the Muhammad Ali museum to provide me information. It’s in Louisiana Kentucky and my parents talked to me about visiting there for my project. I’m determined to find out more than what I know now even if it means pushing myself out of my limits. Though I am still looking for information, I have found some fascinating information. So in the end I did still get something out of the nooks, I just want to dig deeper.

Out of breath, I stopped. My face was wet with tears, my eyes almost dry. The toes of my old converse touched the lining of the cliff. I yearned for a world of acceptance, to disappear like so many in my books. Like Alice to Wonderland, Harry to Hogwarts or Sophie to the Lost Cities. I don’t know what set me off to my journey, if I was pushed or if I jumped. All I know is that my screams echo on the way down. I know that my flailing limbs are bound to hit something and then they do. My body screams out in pain, my ankle cracks. It takes me a second to realize that I’ve stopped falling. The fresh thick mud gives off a pungent smell. I smell flowers, pollen giving way to sneezing. I don’t see a single flower in sight. A noise causes me to look up. A breeze that makes the trees sway. Except, they aren’t trees. My eyes meet the biggest flowers, a jungle of grass, shading me from the sun. A twittering little noise fills my ears. I stumble back in amazement as an ant, almost as big as me approaches. With a friendly gesture, he beckons me. I follow into a wonderland-like world, a world I have forever longed for. My heart at racing speed, my smile stretching to the absolute edge of my mouth. My feet run along a path, an escape, an oh-so-hoped for reality.

I drew this picture based on the three blue benches we came across on our walk. These blue benches interested me because they were a man made thing that was beautifully placed among nature. It inspired me to draw a picture similar to the scene but not entirely the same. Though the picture is not entirely accurate, I hope it still gets the image across. I think the picture is important because though there are so many man made objects, that an aspect of nature is important.
