Journal: Heterosis studies for yield and its components in bread wheat over environments
Problem Statement: 
Significant inbreeding depression was recorded frequently for yield and yield contributing traits, however, in a few traits it was observed significant negative indicated that F2 was superior to F1 considered desirable combination for trait(s).
Significant of study:  
The study reveals good scope for commercial exploitation of heterosis as well as isolation of pure lines among the progenies of heterotic F1 for improvement of yield levels in bread wheat.
Main result:
Heterosis for yield was through component heterosis. Hybrid vigour of even small magnitude for individual yield components may have additive or synergistic effects on the end product. Manifestation of heterosis for yield and its attributes may be due to non-additive gene effects in the parents. Additive as well as non-additive genetic variances for yield and yield attributes have been reported by many working with bread wheat. Thus, the pstudy reveals ample scope for exploitation of hybrid vigour for commercial production and isolation of pure lines among the progenies of other heterotic F1 for tangible advancement of grain yield in bread wheat.
