During World War ll over 5 million (38.8% of) young men (18-45) volunteered to be enlisted in the US army. This was extremely important for our social and political changes. A lot of women stayed at home and worked in factories because of these drastic numbers. It also showed the integrity of the united states after being bomb at pearl harbor. Not only did it shape our military stronger, but it also shaped our image.

By the age a man turned 18 he had to enlist in the United States drafting system. 61.2% of men were chosen during World War ll. This caused the government to pour money into our armed forces to feed, transport, and build stations. This also caused our economy to shift completely; by having women work mens jobs back home, and enlist in the army as well (non combat). Not only did it change economically it also cause a major decrease in population, as soldiers were dying overseas.

During World War ll minorities tended to get the dead end jobs; considering that 78% of them served in service branches. They were all paid equally and drafted equally. Yet, many minorities volunteered; but they felt as if they were forced to fight during World War ll. Since they were fighting for the freedom of a white man rather than a different ethnicity. This caused the start of a movement- equal rights for all american soldiers.

Women played a huge part during World War ll. When their men were out fighting for the country they had to take the jobs. Multiple women worked in factories, farms, and retail jobs to help their economy. Not only did they make important elements for the soldiers ( bullets, guns, tanks, etc.) It shows that women's employment increased during the second world war to 5.1 million in 1939 (26%) to just over 7.25 million in 1943 (36% of all women of working age). This started a women's workforce movement, which quickly turned into equal rights for all women. it opened up pathways to voting rights, equal pay, and laws against discrimination of gender.

Franklin D. Roosevelt revived the Advisory Commission to World War II Council on National Defense on May 29, 1940, to include Price Stabilization. The OPA (Office of Price Administration) had the power to price all of the items sold in the united states. The price of oil, food, and clothing were all included in their pricing ranges. This also allowed for rationing to become an easy breeze for the government. Therefore instead of businesses setting prices for their items the OPA would. This was to stop the cause of inflation and economic depression. Almost 90% of retail food prices were frozen, meaning set in stone.

During World War ll multiple items were manufactured for solider usage only. Most of our food, clothes, and rubber were being sent to the soldiers to help fight against the Axes Of Power. Therefore, every American citizen would have ration coupons. This limited the items of food and/or clothes they could buy. It also limited the amount of gasoline as well. This caused for a lot of cheaply processed food to become popular during this time period in history. For example the box of Kraft Macaroni and cheese was two boxes for only one rationing coupon, which resulted in 80 million boxes sold in 1943. This caused a change in our food culture as time grew on.

Defense Bonds first went on the market on May 1, 1941, they were renamed war bonds after the us entered the war in December of 1941. Even children could purchase War Bonds for only 10 cents. This helped us pay almost completely for the war. It was being advertised everywhere, in every city or street. Even employers set up automatic payroll deduction systems. Therefore workers could set aside a certain amount for War Bonds with each paycheck. Towards the end of the war, 85 million Americans had purchased $185.7 billion dollars in war bonds. This put a boost in our economy and helped us almost be debt free coming out of the war. Victory in hand!

This was a slogan used by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt during a radio broadcast on the 29th of December, year 1940. He promised to help the united kingdom by giving them military supplies while the united states stayed out of the actual fight. This was announced a year before the attack on pearl harbor. It caused a uproar of citizens to join in on the cause of helping the nations fight the axis of power.

The agency of War information was created during World War II from June 1942 until September 1945. It was the connection and communication of the battlefront and civilian communities. The OWI was in charge of the dissemination of all official news in the United States during the war. They also were in charge of propaganda. They communicated through the use of press, radio, and motion picture. They were persuading the public to join the army, buy war bonds, to "slap a jap", and many more. Propaganda was a huge movement during World War ll. It was the governments way of changing the way we thought about certain races and/or situations. It was OWI jobs to deliver propaganda anywhere they could. It was such a big movement that there were over 200,000 poster designs created and printed during the war.

During World War ll more than 110,000 people of Japanese ancestry were forced to relocation and incarceration in concentration camps in the western interior of the country. The government described Japanese as evil monsters, such as rats or vermin, therefore, we must destroy all of them. This also regulated hate towards the first generation of American born citizens with Japanese ancestry; also called Nisei. Roosevelt described his reasoning was to keep them safe from any harmful hate crimes, which turned out to be a coverup- The government also would make motion pictures describing how amazing life would be for them- yet, it was the complete opposite. The real reasoning was that Roosevelt was scared they would turn on their fellow American citizens for their own nationality. Which turned out to be the exact opposite of how the Nisei felt. A couple years after the war the government realized how wrong this was to their citizens. Therefore they ended up giving them a cash "prize" to make up for the imprisonment
