Research question: How does the dynamic of the classroom teacher, paras, therapist, and district support staff work together to support student's individualized growth, and foster a growth mindset environment? I'm hoping to gain a better understanding of how the support staff works with the lead teacher to form: lesson plans, activities, IEP goals. I am also curious to learn in what ways the environment might be alter to create more of a growth mindset environment. In this setting the organic intellectuals would be the lead teacher and the therapist. In our environment they give the instructions and the support staff helps scaffold the activity and instructions for the children on a more individualized manner. I think the organizational literacy will be the most salient in my learning site because I am focusing on how different entities effect the culture, direction, and learning of the individualized students in the classroom.

Hi Heather, to start:
(1) Your research question is looking at an overarching relational aspect of a growth mindset environment: principally it seems you're interested in the adults of the room.
(2) Your research question is wanting to explore the the "working together". There are two aspects of this working together. (a) How does the support staff enhance the activities of the lead teacher and (2) How does the lead teacher support the staff to enhance the activities in a growth mindset environment?
Would that be correct? If it's not tell me more. If it is, can we refine your question to simply say: How do the educators work together to support students' individualized growth?
Refining this question would allow us to create sub-questions that speak to the role of the staff and the role of the lead teacher. We just need a leading question. What do you think?

Hi Courtney, this is a great question! Let's simplify it so that it's clear and then we can add sub-questions to deepen it. So, it seems like you're interested in a trained instructor's ability to evaluate the purpose of yoga. Is that correct? If my assumption is correct, let's simplify it by stating:
(1) How do trained yoga instructors evaluate the transmission of (Courtney, you'll have to choose one here: mindful practice, relaxation practice, or other learning etc.) during/after their instruction?
You can then focus on the evaluative practices by the instructor. What do you think?
Also, regarding the types of literacies, I'm curious about the organizational and informational one, as well as the pedagogical since they're all related to the evaluation of instruction.

Hi Corlis, I agree with Claire's suggestion in all accounts. Passion and effort are very difficult to assess. However, you can look at this question is a more exploratory format, where you ask your pastor what it looks like for him to plan a session with "whole heart." In education, we can definitely tell and see when a person "cares" and doesn't "care." At least in my current research with students, these students can tell when their teacher "cares." Your research question can be: What does it look like to provide a lesson with "care"? Under this question, your literacy from Brooks and Normore would have to be, Moral Literacy and Spiritual/Religious Literacy. You would have to choose another type of literacy. What do you think? Let's work together on this. You can definitely explore what "caring" looks like in educators, especially religious figures. Thoughts?

Hi Claire, these are two very ambitious questions. They are good, but ambitious. I'm wondering if we can just focus on the first one. The second we would need more time and resources to do. What do you think? If we focus on the first one, we can concentrate on the "promotion" aspect, which would include their planning, distribution methods, and delivery efforts, plus others I may not be thinking of. In thinking of Learning Space, I'm wondering what they are trying to convey with their promotion material and who is their target audience and why. What do you think?

How is the practice of yoga beneficial to adults and how can the setting in which it is learned impact the participant? I hope to discover how yoga can help me in my physical and metal health and how can it benefit any other adult in their daily lives. The organic intellectual is the yoga teacher Olivia I have been learning with once a week. I think the most salient literacy would be spiritual literacy. Although yoga is learned around others and instructed by a teacher, it is a very introspective practice into ones own thoughts and body. Brooks and Normore state when comparing religious literacy to spiritual, "Spirituality, on the other hand, looks inward, tends to be inclusive and more universally applicable." I believe this is what yoga can teach someone.
