" It's not my fault you're hungry".
This picture is a good example of child neglect because as you can tell she is ignoring the kids and focusing on herself. This quote shows this theme because Rose Mary is angry that the her children ate all the food, this goes to show that she doesn't care about her kids enough to feed them only herself. She takes no responsibility for feeding her kids .

"do you think you could maybe stop drinking"
This picture of a broken chain and the quote is a good example of broken promises, all Jeannette wanted was for her well known alcoholic father Rex to stop drinking as her birthday gift. Rex tried going sober and spent several days strapped to his bed with belts and screaming. To celebrate the family went on trip on the way back Rex disappeared and doesn't return that night.

"years from now, when all the junk they got is broken and long forgotten"...."you'll still have your stars".
This picture of the stars and this quote shows this theme of Fantasy vs Reality because in the Walls family for christmas the children never believed in Santa Claus. The Walls family couldn't afford much so Rex there father takes the children one at a time outside and tells them to pick a star all you have to do is claim it.

"You should never hate anyone, even your worst enemies. Everyone has something good about them. You have to find the redeeming quality and love the person for that".
This picture goes with this theme because it shows that you can't change the shape of the puzzle only make it fit how it is. This quote is a good example of acceptance because in this case Jeannette is talking about her mother Rose Mary, Rose Mary was never the one to show love to her children because she was selfish. Despite all the things her mother did to her Jeannette accepted.

"if you don't want to sink, you better figure out how to swim"
This picture and quote shows that Mom and Dads parenting styles are teaching their daughter how to swim throwing her into a sulfur spring in the desert, rescuing her when she skins only to throw her back in it. The strategy they are using by refusing to coddle their children made them grow up more quickly and become more self-sufficient.

"You want to help me change my life?....I'm fine. You're the one who needs help. Your values are all confused".
This picture shows non-conformity because that person is refusing to do what they are being told. This quote is a good example of non-conformity because Rose Mary doesn't like being told, she likes the way she lives and doesn't want to change that, she is shelter-resistant.
